Dancing Mondays: Despacito ft. Bieber Edition

This came out and I tweeted this:

Then I never got to posting it because that next Monday something had happened that it didn’t felt like the way to go.  (I don’t remember now, but it was international news.  They’ve been downers lately.)

But today:

The importance of Justin Bieber choosing this song to do his Spanish bit is pretty big for us.  We had been waiting for him to give props to the genre he used in his latest music production because it felt like he was just going to use the beats and not acknowledge it.

For him to do that in a song with Daddy Yankee, one of our most famous, old school, successful regaetoneros and then with Luis Fonsi who is also one of our most famous artist and an amazing songwriter is like, he cared.   Also, it can’t be denied that he has an ear for hits, and he chose this thing well.

I give him all the credit in the world because he went with a sustancial part in Spanish and not with a lazy “baby” or “mamacita” (which, I have to comment, is a bit ironic that my own lovely Pedrito a.k.a Bruno Mars does that in his super hit That’s What I Like, fully aware that we’ve been craving for him to do a little Spanish bit, he chose the I’m-going-to-leave-you-wanting-more  mamacita, him with the hispanic background, but it’s okay.  In his own time he can do something.  We’ll just wait. And whine about it.) and even more, he totally slayed them.  His pronunciation is wonderful.  I love that because some kid that has never cared for Spanish could be singing this in the summer somewhere in Kentucky.

I though I was going to go over some of the lyrical meaning of the song, but I called my friend Fonsi and he said well, I’ll do it for you then.  And he is such fun, you’ll love what he did:

So there.  Begin this week dancing, it’ll be easier to keep it going that way.

Dancing Mondays: Cinderella ballet Edition

I instagrammed  this yesterday and it was such a beautiful experience:

It was long and all the little ones there got a bit restless, including Little J who started dancing in front of her chair, but it was delightful.

I leave you with my favorite part, we laughed so much at the ball scene.

Have a graceful Monday!

Music Mondays: Boricua en la Luna, by Willie Rodríguez Edition

There’s a national strike today here in Puerto Rico.  Many different groups protesting for many different things, but in general for the discomfort of the people with the state of things (pun was not intended, but gave me a loud chuckle) and the decisions taken by the government.

You can read some of the political situation here: https://www.thenation.com/article/after-a-century-of-american-citizenship-puerto-ricans-have-little-to-show-for-it/

Dancing Mondays: Ever Since New York

Saw this yesterday.

It’s got a little too much Taylor Swift vibe thing to it,  but the kid did his thing and it was a good presentation.  I really like the guitars in this, although they are almost overwhelming, I think that was the sound he was going for.

Something new and different, because sometimes that’s just the ticket.

Have a very happy Monday!

Dancing Mondays: You Will Always Be My Boo Edition

There is no deep reason for this except I really want to relish in the fact that one day Usher and Alicia Keys did a song together and we can be like * clicks play *:

That’s awesome.

I should be writing about the job interview I did a few days back and how awful it was but I’m just ignoring it like this * re-watches *.  Those two together …

Have a great Monday!

Dancing Mondays: Give Into Me Edition

I just wanted to see Garret Hedlund’s sweet face.  So, in alternative for the much more intense Beautiful War, I’m going with this romantic tune where we can also listen to his sexy voice.

I have his songs from that soundtrack.  I mean, he could read an instruction manual and it would sound rich and interesting.

We are dealing with snot and more throat business over here;  you have a nice, chill day.

Dancing Mondays: Pedrito (a.k.a Bruno Mars) in the Grammy’s ’17 Edition

I slept very little last night because, for the first time in I don’t know how many years, I was exited to see someone perform at the Grammy’s.

Adele was awesome and I love that she seemed to enjoy her Hello performance (it was also pretty cool to see an artist re-start a live performance in her tribute, I think it was justified too).  And yes, Beyonce was all kinds of HOWWHATTHEHECKISHAPPENING.  I liked Ed Sheeran doing his live-mix thing.

But my heart was with this guy.

If there has ever been a time when his vocals have not been on point, I would love to see that.  Our of curiosity, because that man never sounds bad.  I thought he was a little louder than usual, but good Lord, his voice.

I loved his chill on this stage.  Most performers make it very tight and formal, and even when they get crazy, they keep it very … how do I say… like “I’m at the Grammy’s and I want to kill this but OMG this is the Grammy’s”.   Pedrito kinda did his thing and had fun.

I mean, it was the Grammy’s and his choice of ‘highlight’ was breaking it down for the ladies.  That was my favorite part of the evening.  What else do you do with a live TV performance?  Break it down, for the ladies.

We were all Jenny (a.k.a JLo) when she enthusiastically nodded her YES followed by an almost bossy right now.   You break it down for me papi, right now.

I went to “sleep” after this because I had to wake up early today, so I admit I didn’t watch this next clip live, but of course I did watched it… at two in the am because somehow I’m gonna get that sleep back.  I’ll try to sneak in a nap into my schedule.  I’ll work it out.

And I mean.  You have to pause after that.  Drink it in and savour the aftertaste.

He went to town with this.  This was the end show the Grammy people didn’t knew they had.  The way he sounded so much like Prince, his moves.  For me one of the things about Prince is, if you are doing Prince, the guitar has to sing too.  Not just be an instrument in the song, but actually be at par with the singer and Bruno did that justice.  His guitar was OFF THE HOOK.

That solo had me squealing like a teenager.

Of course, when I watched this the second time (which was back to back because of course) my brain did it’s usual and then I had so many questions.   Who’s idea was that they dressed like Prince?  Because I would LOVE to see a clip of Pedrito going “you know what we need to do right?  We need to dress like Prince.”  I imagine him all smug after that.

And then the drums had an actual drum part from Prince’s drummer and I’m assuming that’s THE guitar, so where was the security for those things?  Because I mean, that’s historic stuff, someone better be sure it’s safe.

When is the recording of this going to be available?

I talked more about this in my Instagram Story, if you want to hear me.

Have a great Monday peeps!  Rock it in a purple kind of happy.

Dancing Mondays: Marley tribute with Rihanna, Bruno and Sting

Dancing Mondays almost didn’t went up today because the car woke up with no battery (left a light turned on inside accidentally).  Some things were done a little later than planned, BUT, it’s a bright day!

Bob Marley’s birthday. I have written about him several times before, so keeping it brief.  And look, Pedrito is there!  Being absolutely awesome as per usual.

Have a great week peeps.
