Tuesdays of Textures

Every Tuesday I post a photo of a texture or the use of a texture.  In hopes of getting to know a bit more about your part of the world, I invite you to join in the fun of sharing an image of the textures around you by including a link to this post in your own Tuesdays of Texture post. You can find and share your image during the week if you don’t have one today 🙂

Texture. Pine leaves.

Do your little bit of good where you are; its those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.
Desmond Tutu

During the weekend we experienced our first tornado.  I had never seen anything like that in my life, and though it was tiny, I still shudder when I remember how fast everything was.  As soon as I felt the wind hauling I ran to Baby J, who was in her crib sleeping, and by the time I got to her the mosquito net was soaking wet, there was a puddle in the floor and she was damp.

When we saw what it did to the trees – cutting them in half and in some cases pulling them out by their whole roots – we got goosebumps.  We could make out the entire path it went through by the damage it left.

That was one tiny tornado, I’m sure we don’t get big ones over here because they would simply flatten the island in one sweep.

As a result of the surprising visitor, we didn’t had electric power for almost two days.  Manfriend’s business is equipped with a necessary industrial power plant that stayed on the entire time, so he went to the neighbors (as he has always done in such occasions) – parents of a pre-teen with down syndrome and an almost two year old baby – and offered them an extension cable so they could connect their refrigerator.

This house is too far away from the business’ building, so we couldn’t benefit from the power plant for ourselves.  The irony!  But manfriend says when he was connecting the neighbors the big kid said thank you to him and while he was telling me this, his entire face was shining with satisfaction because he was able to help them.

Have a great, and textured Tuesday and do a little bit of good today!
