We spent the day yesterday preparing to receive the storm Isaac. There was a lot of running around, buying canned food and updating national weather websites. It’s a good thing we have extensive hurricane preparation training. Soup, crackers, flashlights, ice and beer and we are pretty much good to go. Of course, I had to work anyway. Which would not be an issue at all since THE company is a very safe place to be during a storm/hurricane, but I have to get there and come back home and driving under a storm is so not fun. Specially in places with lots of vegetation, like our island.
Thankfully, a couple of hours after I tweeted this, it moved further down and during it’s trajectory under our island it left us with just lots of rain (not that we particularly prefer rain, rain is actually what affects us the most because our weakness is floods; but comparing it to rain plus hurricane, we’d rather deal with rain) and some winds. We are now praying for our brothers and sisters in the caribbean; the Dominican Republic, Haiti (who have enough as it is already) and Cuba to be safe during this event.
If you have a spare bit of positive energy, please think of them. Have a great weekend!
